Loosely translated Steak Pizzaiola is, pizza style steak. Any kind of boneless tender steak will do. Allow one steak per person. I used London broil because they were on sale, and sliced it to serve family style. Top it with marinara sauce.
- 4 tender beef steaks
- 1 14 oz. can diced tomatoes
- 1 clove garlic,sliced
- 2 Tblsp. vegetable oil
- 1 Tblsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
- salt and pepper to taste
In a large skillet, heat oil and butter over medium high heat. Immediately add steaks and allow to brown quickly on both sides. Remove from skillet, season with salt and pepper and set aside.
Lower the heat to medium and saute garlic in the same skillet until tender and golden. Remove garlic.
Add tomatoes and oregano to skillet. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes then return steaks to skillet just long enough to reheat, about 2 minutes. Place steaks on a platter and pour sauce over top.
